About: This section overviews the process to transfer mail messages from Novell GroupWise to Outlook with attachments. The solution mentioned below is absolutely free and does not require much time or technical know-how for execution.

Requisites: Novell GroupWise, MS Outlook, and Outlook Express (as a mediator).

Procedure: Step 1: Copy GroupWise Messages on Hard Disk as EML

• Open GroupWise and in the tools menu, drop down to “Options”
  
• In the options dialog box, click double-click on “Environment” >> “Default Actions”
  
• Go to “Drag message to desktop” option and choose “Create a Copy (.eml)”

Note: In this step, ensure that correct option is selected and it might create a shortcut on desktop which later leads to email inaccessibility.

• Click OK and then “Close” to exit the window.
• Now, create a folder at desired location where you want to store the messages in EML file
• Now, select one or more messages in GroupWise, Drag and drop them to the folder created in system.
• Right click on the mails in the folder >> Properties >> verify the file extension.

If the email file extension is .eml, move to Step 2, else again move to step 3 and then check out if you have selected right option “Create a Copy (.eml) ”

Step 2: Import EML Files to Outlook Express

• First of all, make a new folder in Outlook Express. For this, go to the file menu, select “New” >> “Folder”.
  
• In the dialog box that appears, enter the name of the folder (first text box) and chose the folder under which the sub-folder has to be created. 
  
• Open the folder where EML files are saved. Select the messages to be to imported to Outlook Express, drag and drop them to the new folder created in Outlook Express. 

Step 3:Transfer Outlook Express EML Files to Outlook

• In Outlook, there is a built-in option to import data from Outlook Express or Windows Mail. Here are the steps shared that will help in importing messages saved in EML file to Outlook.
• Open MS Outlook >> Go to file menu >> Import and Export option
  
• Click on the option “Import from another program or file” >> Next
  
• A dialog file with name “Import a file” will pop up. Select “Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x, 6.x, or Windows Mail”
  
• Now, select the folder that is to be exported and the GroupWise emails to Outlook conversion will be complete.
