Frequently Asked User's Queries for OST regarding issues

  • : I have heard that OST file size can grow upto 50 GB but it may cause issue after 2 GB? Is it true?
  • : The 2GB limit applies to ANSI formatted OST file only, otherwise it is safe to play upto 50 GB in Outlook 2010 & 20 GB in Outlook 2007
  • : But my OST file is ANSI format, & yes it is about to reach 2 GB? What would you recommend in this case?
  • : Here you can take backup of through the software that you have seen in the above video section
  • : OK, If I upgrade my Exchange server version & later would like to convert, then?
  • : Yes the tool is supported with all the latest version & helps you lifetime whether you upgrade or downgrade your Exchange Server version.
  • : I get this error "Cannot open your default email folders". You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)."
  • : Have you tried to re-enable MAPI?
  • : Yes I did, actually we have 15 users & this is the only single user who is unable to access his default email folder, so I am sure that it is not a connectivity error, although the user is able to access the mailbox in OWA. Should I export his mailbox and then again import into the Exchange server?
  • : Have you enabled caching mode?
  • : Yes, we have already enabled
  • : Is there a chance of any corruption?
  • : Yes, might be, in that case you could use OST Recovery application to recover offline data folder
  • : Yes, but after recovering it, does it resynchronize with the same folder automatically.
  • : No, it will only recover user's corrupted OST file & save it into PST format which you later access it in MS Outlook.
  • : Then should I rename or delete the original OST file that causes the problem after taking backup of it.
  • Yes you can follow the approach. But If your Exchange mailbox is still valid, then make sure the email account settings in Outlook are correct, and Outlook can connect to your Exchange server correctly. Then you can start Outlook and send/receive your emails on the Exchange mailbox, which will make Outlook to create a new OST file automatically and synchronize its data with the Exchange mailbox.

What Clients Say

Quite easy learning curve with its interface which is similar to Microsoft Outlook, and I can easily have all those powerful features for saving my OST file locally & accessing even in the absence of Exchange Server

Could not get rid of strange error, "cannot open your default e-mail folders, the information store could not be opened. The file xxx.ost is not an offline folder file". Talked to the support team, they resolved my query very patiently. This program was a real offline folder life saver for me. The best program I have ever come upon.
