Help me! I recently configured Outlook 2016 account with Exchange Server. In this process, I lost half of the data while converting the PST file to an Exchange OST file. Now, I want all of my data to get back into the offline storage file that was saved in the personal storage file. But I do not know how to import PST file into OST? However, I had a backup of my old PST file on a spare hard drive. So, Is there any possibility to convert the PST file to OST? If yes, then please share the solutions.

Usually, people search for the solution to Import OST in Outlook Manually. However, some situation exists under which users need to import PST into OST or offline storage file. For the same, when they look for a workaround, they did not find the relevant one. So, considering the user’s problematic situation, in this article, we are going to describe a solution to convert PST to OST.

Need to Import PST to OST File Format

1. In a situation, when a user has two email accounts in Outlook. One profile is synchronized with Exchange Server and creates an OST file. And, another one not configured with MS Exchange generates a local personal storage file i.e., a PST file. However, a user wants all of its .pst data in the account that is added with Exchange. So that all of its locally stored data will also be saved on the Exchange server account. In the future, whenever a data loss situation occurs, he/she can easily download its data copy from the Exchange account on the Outlook account.

2. Outlook local .pst file is non-volatile in nature. It means it can store the data file even in offline mode. That is why it is suitable for creating the archive and backup file. On the other side, the OST file is volatile in nature and devoted only to the account on which it is created. As a result, one cannot move an OST file from one email account to another profile. In that situation, users need to convert OST file to PST database file. Thus, for the sake of data security, users move their Outlook .pst data to the offline storage file. So, no other unauthorized person is able to move the OST file on its account.
