It has been observed that organizations of all shapes and sizes and domain are making the move to Office 365. This is because of specialties offered by this platform including disaster recovery plan, high availability of their email infrastructure, etc. Some specific permission is provided inside one domain so that the management is done in a better way. Admin permissions are assigned to additional people in the organization so as to share workload.

In this way, user can get any help they need. These permissions can be assigned by you as an admin and plan proper management with password resets, service management, and tasks. In case you are working in a partnership then you can also assign role of your partner so that he can make changes when you are not present.

Office 365 creates its very first account for admin and this admin decides the roles for other users and grants permissions to rest of the users assigning them their admin roles. The permissions granted to all users and their admin roles allow the management of Office 365. The simplest technique to assign role is: “Consider the task supposed to be done by user and grant least permission to complete this task.”

Steps to Change Administrator Role of Users

Admin has the rights to control this and only he can perform the internal changes like administrator role of users. You can follow the below mentioned steps;

  • Go to Admin >> Office 365 >> Users and Groups.
  • On the Active users page, select the user to which you want to make the changes.
  • Now click Edit to change the administrator role.
  • Select Settings and under assign role click required option as Yes or No.
  • In case you choose No, you can save the settings by clicking Save.
  • In case you opt for Yes, you can choose a role from the list and proceed.
  • An alternate email address box is also provided where you can provide an external email address. In case of any important notification regarding password reset or any other detail is updated, it is send to this id.
  • When you are done, click Save.

Set-backs Associated With Office 365

The admin basically has access to all utilities in the admin center. He can create or edit users, re-set user-password and other details, assign admin roles to users, and manage domains. Admin himself have many tasks to do but as Office 365 deployment can be done using Active Directory console. This console is actually tough to manage and thus it becomes difficult to assign roles if the domain has many users in it. In case Office 365 accounts are available for few users, then admin can easily handle it using. But it is quite impossible to handle users in large number. Hence, it completely depends on the size of organization that how manageable is your Office 365 application.

In addition to this, console-based management is not possible for all type of users and as an admin one must be aware with the console-based settings. If you too face such problems with the Office 365 settings then some third party tools are also available in market which can help in the management of Office 365 platform.

Easy-management Technique

A third party software like Office 365 Admin Manager can be an alternative solution for your problem. Its graphical user-interface helps you to perform task in a much easier way like importing contacts, adding signature, adding disclaimer, extracting user details, etc. It helps you for better management and provides a much easier mode of handling user data.

Conclusion:

No doubt Office 365 has brought revolution in email communication market but the platform will work for an IT professional only. Non-technologist might not understand each and every loop or function of platform. Its console-based management leaves even the most simplified and basic version of Office 365 to be complicated. In such situation taking help of a third party solution might be helpful for easy management.
