Export Mailbox MAPI Error Or Unspecified Service Provider in Exchange 2007, 2010

In Exchange Environment, Administrator uses Power-shell command and Exchange Admin Center to create a backup of user mailboxes to use later. Exchange Application offers the option to move exchange mailbox data items, for that user can go to Powershell command Export Mailbox Request. But Sometime Exchange Administrator face issue while running the command, and the export process failed to prompt error messages “Export Mailbox MAPI Error Or Unspecified Service Provider” or with the message

Error Code: 1056749164″ “or ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000″, or error Code=”0xc1054005″, Event ID: 1008

After searching a lot of different forums and Expert’s blogs, We concluded that this error code arises due to permission issue in Exchange Environment. An Even Support section of Microsoft mentioned that this error occurs due to “Certain Properties” that are missing while exporting Exchange mailboxes.

After searching more about this error we find that Exchange Administrator can fix this issue by providing full access permission to move exchange mailboxes data item process.

Before resolving the issue, please check the permission granted to the account:

Method 1: Roll Updates for Exchange 2010 and 2007 Environment

Exchange Administrator can check the Roll updates for Exchange 2010 and 2007 Environment to fix the Error Code: 1056749164 “or ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000, or error Code=”0xc1054005″, Event ID: 1008. Fix this to the issue by following the Rollup update for Exchange 2007 version.

Method 2: Provide Full Permission

Provide Permission to Access Full Mailbox to Export Mailboxes Items. Checkout Command to Add Permission and move Exchange mailbox data items

add-mailboxpermission -identity -accessrights fullaccess -user export-mailbox

Method 3: Check Registry Key of PSTDisableGrow to fix Export Mailbox MAPI Error

Sometimes due to changes Group policy registry key, lead to error, so change the value of “PSTDisableGrow” field for that find the registry path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\PST\PSTDisableGrow
and change the value from 1 to 0

“12.0” = For Outlook 2007 Version
“13.0” = For Outlook 2010 Version
“14.0” = For Outlook 2013 Version

Also, try to change the value of Cached Mode

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Cached Mode and
Change from 1 to 0
