While upgrading my ISP, I recieved the following error when I tried to send an email:
Task ‘pop.gmail.com – Sending and Receiving’ reported error (0x8004210B) : ‘The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).’

Step-1 Perform Full Scanning of Your System via Antivirus

Maybe some files got infected in your system due to any virus or trojan, as a result Outlook gives this error. Perform the full malware scan of your system and get rid of any spyware by using an antivirus program.

Step-2 Perform an Update

Sometimes Outlook gives this error due to outdated drivers or Windows. Finding the particular driver that gives this error is quite complex. So update your driver regularly so as to ignore this Outlook error 0x8004210B.
Along with the drivers, make sure to regular update your Windows software. Go to Start –> All Programs –>Windows Update. Then Click on Change Settings and Click _Automatic. This will update your windows automatically when the updation is required.

Step3 – Repair Registry Entries associated with error 0x8004210B

Manually repair your Registry entries by going through below steps:

  • Click on Start button and type “Command” in the search box.
  • Click Ctrl+Shift+Enter. The dialog box appears , Click Yes.
  • Type “regedit” on the black box and hit Enter.
  • Select error 0x8004210B related key in Registry editor you want to take back up.
  • Click on File –>Export
  • Select the folder where you want to save the Outlook backup key.
  • In File Name box, type the name of your backup file.
  • In Export Range box, make sure that you have selected option “Selected Branch”. Click Save
  • Now you have backup of your MS Outlook related registry entry. You can manual edit your registry.

Note: Doing Manually editing in registry is not recommended as doing this has a high risk of damaging your system.

Step 4 Uninstall and Reinstall MS Outlook program

Sometimes the error is related to Microsoft Corporation Program, then unistalling and reinstalling the Outlook application works for you in repairing Microsoft Outlook error message 0x8004210b. Go to the Control Panel and uninstall the program, after successfull uninstallation reinstall the program again.

Step 5: Run Windows System File Checker

The System File checker tool scan and restore the corruption found in Windows system files.
To run this:

  • Click on the Start menu and type “Command” in the search box
  • Click Ctrl + Shift + Enter and then Yes.
  • Type “sfc/scannow” and Click Enter
  • Scanning will start and follow on-screen commands.

Step-6 Install all Available Windows Updates

Install the latest Service pack provided by Microsoft. Sometimes Outlook gives this runtime error and updating Windows with the latest pack resolve this error. Update your windows by Typing ‘Update’ on ‘Start’ menu. If any update is pending, it will show you and Click Install Updates.

Step-7 Perform Clean Windows Installation

Final step to resolve this error is reinstalling windows from the hard disk and restart the system. Performing clean installation will wipe out all junk files present in the system.
