Working Process of AD Console Software

Now manage the active directory activities which is under control on Active Directory administrator, like edit, create, update, modify, delete or move user properties in the AD.

STEP 1

Go to Start menu » Programs » SysTools AD Console » SysTools AD Console .

Software will allow user to view active directory user properties and manage active directory.

Click on “Active Directory Manager” to view the users in Active Directory.

You will see the users as shown in given screen:

To view User Properties, click on "View" icon for that particular user.

When you click on "General" tab, you will see general user properties. When clicking on aditional tabs (Organization, Telephone, Address, Account, Profile and Member OF) and see releted properties also.

Select the user whose image you want to change or apply image

Click on "Change Image" link and then select the image that you want to apply.

Creating Organization Unit:

Select the location in tree view (In root or under particular organization) where you want to create organization unit and then click on "Create"

Now enter the name of Organization unit that you want to Create and then click on "Submit" button

Rename Organization Unit

Select the organization unit that you want to rename from tree view and then click on "Rename"

Now enter the new Organization unit name that you want to rename to and then click on "Submit" button.

Delete Organization Unit

Select the organization unit that you want to delete and then click on "Delete" button.

Now click on "yes" button if you want to delete that organization.

Move users from one Organization Unit to Another

Select the organization unit that contains the users that you want to move

Now Drag the users that you want to move to that particular Organization.

Click on "Yes" if you want to move users from source organization unit to another.

Generating CSV file for Creating Users, Modifying Users, Deleting Users and for Creating Mailbox

Select the fields that you want while creating users or modifying users

You can even add your own field if you want by clicking on "Add Field" option.

Please note that the field that you want to add should not contain any space. Also if you add any field then it cannot be deleted from activev directory. So add field only if absolutely necessary.

Now click on "Generate CSV" button to generate the CSV file so that it can be used for creating users, deleting users, modifying users, creating mailbox for users

Create Users

Click on "Create" button and import the generated CSV file(generated from Settings tab)

After importing CSV file, you will see "CSV Field Mapping Profile" Window.

This profile screen is used for mapping CSV fields with AD fields. By default mapping is done in "Default Profile". To view the mappings for existing profiles, just select that profile and click on "View" button. The mapping will appear

If you want you can create a new profile and then define which CSV fields map with which AD fields. To create new profile, click on "Add New" button and enter new profile name

After entering profile name, you will see "Field Mapping" window.

Now you can decide which CSV field should map to which AD field and do the mapping accordingly this step. Now click on "Save" button.

Please note that you cannot map multiple CSV fields to one AD Field. Also you need to do mapping for all CSV fields.

After saving the mapping, select the profile that you want to use and then click on "Use Selected Profile" button.

After selecting the profile you can set the account properties that you want to apply to all the users that you are going to create and you need to select organization unit (from tree view) where you want to create all these users

After setting account properties and selecting the organization unit, click on "Start" button to start creating users. After clicking on start button, you will see "Current Status" window

Modify Users

Click on "Modify" button and import the generated CSV file (generated from Settings tab)

After importing CSV file, you will see "CSV Field Mapping Profile" Window

Now select the profile that you want to use and click on "Use Selected Profile" button. If you want, you can even create your own profile and map CSV fields to AD fields. For this refer "Create Users" section After selecting the profile, the process of modifying users will start. You will see "Current Status"

Delete Users

Click on "Delete" button and import the generated CSV file (generated from Settings tab)

After importing CSV file, you will see "CSV Field Mapping Profile" window

Select the profile that you want to use and then click on "Use Selected Profile" button. After selecting the profile, the process of deleting users will start. You will see "Current Status" window

Create Mailbox

Select the profile that you want to use and then click on "Use selected profile" button. You can even add your own profile. For this refer "Create Users" section.

After selecting the profile, you will see "Create Mailbox" window. Here you need to select the "Exchange Server" where you want to create the mailbox and you also need to select the "Mail Store" where to store the created mailbox.

STEP 34

After selecting "Exchange Server" and "Mail Store" , click on "Create" button to start creating the mailbox.

When you click on "Create" you will see "Current Status" windows

STEP 35

Rollback

Click on "Rollback" button............

After clicking on "Rollback" button, you will see "Version Logs" screen. Here you will see the operations performed so far like when the user was created, when he was modified, when he was deleted and so on.

After clicking on "View" button, you will see the screen. Now in "Current Version" section, you will see the current data for that user. Since I am trying to rollback user that has been deleted, this means user in not in active directory so the "Current Version" section is not showing any data. "Previous Version" section shows data of the version that we have selected to rollback to.

Click on "Rollback" button, to rollback the user.
