How to Import MBOX to Microsoft 365 in Mac - Complete Guide

This guide provides a detailed walkthrough on importing MBOX files into Microsoft 365 (Office 365) using the SysTools Import Tool.

STEP 1

Download, install, and launch the SysTools Import Tool. If the tool is not activated, refer to the activation guide: Activation Steps.

The Help panel in the tool provides information about the application workflow, including Prerequisite, Setup, Source, Destination, Users, Import, Settings, and Activate.

STEP 2

Select MBOX as the source and Microsoft 365 as the destination platform.

Under Workload selection, check the Email checkbox to allow email import.

Specify the From Date and To Date to import emails within the selected date range if you wish to apply date filter.

Once all the settings are done in the workload section, click on the Next button to continue.

Under the Source tab, select the Import folder path containing the MBOX files.

Create a folder in root drive, like:

Enter the Import folder path and click Validate to verify the required permissions.

Once validation is complete, verify that the required Read file system and Read Email permissions are granted.

Click Next to continue.

STEP 6

Under the Destination tab, enter the Admin Email and Application ID.

Click Validate to verify the account permissions.

Once validation is successful (indicated by green checkmarks), click Next.

STEP 7

Under the Users tab, specify the users to be processed for the import.

If you wish to fetch users directly, click on Fetch Users and click on Continue to fetch users from the configured source account.

To import users using a CSV file, click on the Import Users option, then select the User list csv file option and upload the prepared CSV file.

If you wish to download the csv template for user mapping, click on the Download Template button and provide a destination path for saving the downloaded file.

STEP 8

Once the users are fetched successfully, the application displays the number of users fetched and confirms that processing is complete.

STEP 9

Select the required users and enter the corresponding Destination Email addresses.

Use the filter to view All Users, users with Permission Failed, or users with Permission Succeed.

Click Validate to verify the selected users.

Once validation is complete, the application displays the number of validated users and confirms that processing is completed.

Click OK to continue.

After validation, verify that the required Destination Permission is granted.

STEP 10

Click Start Import to begin the import process.

Review the available license count and click Start to begin the import.

Once the import starts successfully, click OK to close the confirmation message.

STEP 11

View the import status under the In Progress tab.

Monitor the import progress. Click the Refresh icon to update the import status and view the current email count.

STEP 12

To stop the ongoing import, click Stop Import.

Once the import is completed, view the results under the Completed tab.

Click Download Report to view the available report options.

Select Import Summary Report or Detailed Report to download the required report.

Choose the location where you want to save the report and click Save.

If you wish to download the detailed report, click on the Detailed Report option. Select the required users for which you wish to get the report and then click on the Download button to start generating the report(s).

Once the report generation has been completed, a confirmation dialog box will appear. Click on the Download button to download the generated report.

Provide a destination path for saving the report.

STEP 15

Click Re-Run Import to view the available options.

Select Retry Failed Items, Re-Run Full Import, or Delta Import as required.

The Retry Failed Items window displays the users whose items could not be imported.

Select the required users and click Start to retry the import.

In the Re-Run Full Import window, select the required users and click Start to re-run the complete import.

In the Delta Import window, select the required users and click Start to import only the newly added data.

STEP 16

(Optional) Adjust Settings:

Navigate to the Settings tab.

Under General, you can adjust the Concurrent user slider to set the number of users processed simultaneously per account (e.g., to 10). Once you are done with the settings, click Save.
