If you are a small business owner in Iowa who relies on Evertek for daily email needs, there is bad news. Evertek email ending has been finalised, and on Sept 15, 2026, all email accounts with @evertek.net or @netllc.net will shut down forever.

This means the ability to send, receive, or look at the messages in your account will no longer be possible. Don’t worry, I have overseen many email closures in the past and have helped thousands of users quit quietly and shift swiftly to another platform.

In this writeup I will explain to you why Evertek is closing its email facility and what you can do about it. So let’s start by breaking down what the official announcement says.

Evertek Legacy Email Shutdown Announcement Explained

The wind-down began earlier in January 2026, with permanent service closure scheduled for September 2026. You get a grace period of almost one month until 15 October to get your data (but I won’t suggest waiting till then), after which data erasure is permanent with no recovery options.

The official claim is that Evertek could no longer justify increasing costs from their email provider. Yes, you heard it right, Evertek was not a first-party email provider; rather, it acted as a middleman.
So justifiably, when push comes to shove, Evertek could no longer operate the arbitrage it was able to earlier and asks its users to move elsewhere.

Moreover, this cost-cutting won’t be passed onto you as Evertek’s email was a complementary service and not a paid package, so you were never billed for using it.

In Evertek’s official update, you can find a form fill out ASAP. However, don’t expect Evertek to migrate your emails on your behalf. The form is there so that Evertek can update their internal records so they know where to contact you when they close your @evertek.net or @netllc.net account.

These official reasons don’t paint the full picture, so if you are interested, check out what my own investigation revealed about why Evertek is shutting down its email service.

Real Reasons behind the Emergency End to Evertek Email

Costs are just a tiny part of the overall liability. As for small area telcos like Evertek, every email account poses a possible security leak. Not to mention, handling spam and compliance every day takes significant resources that don’t actually bring in any revenue.

Moreover, in a world where services like Gmail exist, rarely any user kept Evertek account as their primary means of accessing mail.

However, there are still thousands of Iowa families or shops for which Evertek was their one and only email address. So they must know what’s going to happen when Evertek’s email service shuts down forever.

What Happens to User Accounts When Evertek Email Service Closes

You would need these details when you try to shift Evertek elsewhere, so save them or bookmark this page by pressing (Ctrl/Cmd + D).

  • Incoming: mail.evertek.net
  • Port: 993
  • Security: SSL/TLS
  • Username: Full address
  • Password: Yours
  • SMTP: Identical, port 587, STARTTLS.

Note: These details expire on 15 September, along with your email address, so use them before that date.

Best Practices You Must Follow to Navigate the Shutdown

Send a mass email from your old Evertek address (while it still works) to friends, family, and colleagues. Something on the lines of: “Hey, my @evertek.net email is retiring, update to my new one: [email protected].” Include a signature in replies, too. For businesses, use tools for a polished announcement to clients, avoiding spam filters.

If possible setup an auto-forwarding inside your Evertek and point it towards your new email address. This helps to move any future messages. Accompany this with an autoreply that informs the sender about the email change that is about to take place. It will help to cover any contacts that were missed during the mass mail.

You may have used your @evertek.net and @netllc.net accounts to register on outside sites like social media, newsletters, etc. When the Evertek email ends, all these connections break, so update them too.

Use a tried and tested solution like the SysTools IMAP Migrator to get your emails elsewhere. It’s entirely GUI, so you don’t have to memorise any scripts. Available for both Windows and Mac machines, you can download a free copy right now and start moving your Evertek messages.

No matter the route you chose to get your emails out, you must always double-check if the result is as per your requirements. The tool I prescribed here makes the monitoring part super simple by providing an account-level CSV summary and a detailed message-level CSV report as well.

Moreover, also see if the messages to your old addresses redirect to the new one or not. If negative, use the tool’s delta transfer and get all remaining data as well.

My Opinion on Evertek Email Ending

Evertek is not the only email service on its last legs this year alone; we have seen Sparklight putting the lights out on Nova1net mail, Eoni shutting down in May 2026, and even USask mail wrapping up email access. This indicates a broader shift that is not just limited to one single industry. And my prediction is that we will see more small players exiting the market with the behemoths like Gmail, Yahoo, etc. growing even bigger.
As long as there is still some competition, users have the option to switch (with the help of the right tool), but fewer players are always a worrying sign that the market is becoming monopolistic.
