HCL Domino Environment Settings

Select your scenario below to view the specific configuration settings for the Source or Destination environment.

Settings Checklist:

  • HCL Notes Client 12 or 14 installed.
  • Notes Client must remain open.
  • "Don't prompt for password" enabled.
  • Manager access on Names.nsf.
  • Reader access (min) on Source User Database.

Configuration Steps for Source

STEP 1

Ensure that HCL Notes Client version 12 or 14 is installed on the migration machine.

You can verify the specific version details from the Help > About menu.

STEP 2

Ensure that the HCL Notes Client remains open (e.g., on the Inbox screen) during the entire migration process.

STEP 3

In User Security Settings, enable the option to bypass password prompts so the tool can access data uninterrupted.

Navigate to File in the main menu to access Security > User Security option.

When prompted, enter your Notes password to proceed.

In the User Security window, select Security Basics and check "Don’t prompt for a password from other Notes-based programs".

STEP 4

Database Permissions:

Open the HCL Domino Administrator to manage permissions.

The configured user must have Manager-level permissions on the Names.nsf database.

The user must also have a minimum of Reader level access in the specific source user database being migrated.

STEP 5

For Local NSF File Migration: Setup the Source Folder Path correctly.

  • Select a first-level folder on a drive (e.g., D:\Migration).
  • The folder name length should be less than 20 characters.
  • The Source folder path must contain the NSF Username folder which holds the .nsf file(s).

STEP 6

CN Value Mapping (For Local NSF):

Prepare a CSV file mapping the Source ID (CN Value) to the corresponding SMTP Address.

Use the software's browse feature to locate and import this CSV file.

STEP 1

Ensure that HCL Notes Client version 12 or 14 is installed.

Ensure that the HCL Notes Client remains open during the migration.

In User Security Settings, enable the option to bypass password prompts:

Navigate to File > Security > User Security.

Ensure the configured user has Manager-level permissions on the Names.nsf database.

Destination User Permissions:

The HCL Notes configured user must have a minimum of Editor level access in the destination user database.

Additionally, enable the following options in HCL Domino Administrator:

  • Delete documents
  • Create shared folder
