How it Works - PDF Unlocker Software

Learn how to remove PDF file security and unlock the ability to edit, print, copy or extract data from a PDF file which is highly protected with local security.

STEP 1

Launch SysTools PDF Unlocker from the installation location or navigate through Start » All Programs » SysTools PDF Unlocker » SysTools PDF Unlocker.

Start off by clicking on the "Unlock" button to proceed further.

As soon as you click on the Unlock button, "Unlock PDF File" window appears. Click on the "Browse" button to provide the source path of the file to be unlocked.

Select the “PDF” file from the stored location and then Click on “Open” button.

As soon as the file is loaded, the software enumerates permissions and stats for the current Document.

Software will create a new decrypted PDF file after removing restrictions from the selected PDF document. Now to select destination path to save decrypted copy of PDF, click on the “Browse” button adjacent to the select destination box.

Browse the destination location properly where the unlocked file will be stored.
If the folder/destination location does not exist, "Make New Folder" instead

Next click on the "Unlock PDF" button to initialize the process of unlocking & removing PDF file restrictions

A message box pops up when the PDF gets unlocked successfully. Click "OK" to proceed further.

The software draws comparison of the file restrictions before and after unlocking the PDF document.

Now test the unlocked PDF file for features such as printing, copying & pasting operations.

To check if the PDF is unlocked for the copy option, perform the following test procedure:

  • Open the PDF File Document » select the content to be copied
  • Next click on Edit menu and then Copy File to Clipboard

STEP 11

Check the printing functionality by clicking on the print option, if it gets selected then the document can be printed easily.

Exit or proceed unlocking other PDF files by selecting Yes or No option.
