Many people who use the Outlook app on their phones want to know how to remove Get Outlook for Android messages ASAP. This request is not surprising since no one wants their email messages to serve as a low-quality promotional method for Microsoft.

Don’t worry; in this write-up, I am going to show you exactly what to do to remove the unwanted email signature once and for all. Let us first clarify the reasons for removing the message.

Why Do Users Want to Remove “Get Outlook for Android” Messages?

There is no reason to have that text in your email. Below are common points that users cite when asked why they want to delete the message.

The first and foremost reason is that the unwanted promotional material is unrelated to the subject of the email.

It reduces the appeal and professionalism of an email message.

The second reason is that the message is not just a text but a hyperlink. Plus, it is located towards the footer of the email message, pretty close to where the attachments lie.

So there is a possibility that the recipient may accidentally misclick and get transported out of the email section and into the Play Store.

Moreover, your recipient may not even use an Android device in the first place. In such a case, the hyperlink gets redirected to a universal page where options to install both iOS and Android are present.

How to Remove “Get Outlook for Android” Message for Individual Mails?

Before you start drafting a new message, the “Get Outlook for Android Message” will appear in the email body. Even if you don’t type anything yourself, set a subject or add a recipient.

  • Step 1. Now is the time to select the promotional message.
  • Step 2. Then hit backspace or type in another character, and the promotional message gets removed. Now you can send the mail with only the text/details you want.

However, this is just a temporary solution; you need to do this every time you send a new email from your Android device. Don’t worry, I have a more permanent way to get rid of this message.

Remove “Get Outlook for Android” Message Step by Step

Use the Outlook webmail on your mobile device. The “Get Outlook for Android” is not associated with your account but rather with the client that you are using, i.e., the Outlook for Android application.

Use any browser on your mobile to search for Outlook webmail login. Plus, the message is not just an annoying text but has a hyperlink attached to it.

Step 1. Open the Outlook App on your phone. Tap on your profile icon.

Step 2. Tap the settings cog/gear. Select “Signatures”.

Tip: You can toggle the “Per Account Signature” option if you use more than one account on the Outlook for Android app. Tap on your account.

Step 5.  Select the entire “Get Outlook for Android” message and backspace/clear/delete.

However, one thing that I noticed is that when I select all and tap backspace, only the last character gets deleted. I don’t know if this is just my device or if this is the default behavior across every Android mobile.

So, instead of tapping repeatedly, you can hold down the backspace button until the entire message disappears.

Another method I found to be faster and more intuitive is to select the entire message and then tap on any character on the keyboard. This will overwrite the entire message. Then, you can press the backspace key to delete that single placeholder character.

You can even replace the default text with your custom signature.

Step 7. Tap on the check mark at the top right to save the changes.

After this, try sending a test email to yourself. Check if the “Get Outlook for Android” message still appears or not. (Do this on your phone.)

Keep in Mind:

  • This change does not affect any emails you have already sent.
  • All new emails sent from this point forward will have your updated signature.
  • It won’t remove the message from any incoming emails.

Conclusion

Now I hope readers know how to remove the “Get Outlook for Android” message if it’s bothering them. You can simply delete the text every time you send a mail or update the signature section for a permanent removal.

Frequently Asked Questions on “Get Outlook for Android” Message Removal

Q1. Why does Microsoft attach a “Get Outlook for Android” message to my email?

It is a marketing strategy to increase brand awareness to drive more people to adopt its Android application. The same thing happens on Outlook for iOS as well.

Q2. Why doesn’t my email append the “Get Outlook for Android” message even when I use the same account on the Web or desktop?

This happens because the email signature is tied to the application, not your account. Other apps like the Outlook web or Outlook Desktop don’t even know you have such a signature on the mobile (Android) app.

Moreover, even if you set up a Gmail or Yahoo account on the Outlook Android application, it attaches the signature to messages sent by those accounts as well.
