Hard Drive Space Visualizer

By running the below command on command prompt we can see how much space is used by each drive.

wmic logical disk get size,freespace,caption

After running the above command, we can see there are three properties, which shows the hard drive usage.

The first property caption showing the drives that are currently in use and second is freespace, which shows the available space of hard drive. The one showing the total Size of each drive.

The above command will show the free and total space of hard drive and just give an overview of hard drive usage. However, if it is not helpful for you and does not provide you a better result, then you need to check for hidden files and folders may be you have enabled the Hidden files and folders option and forgot to disable it while checking the hard drive space.

WinDirStat is one such utility that can easily analyze the hard drive space and provide a good interface to check the file size and available space on your hard disk drive.

You can see in the below image,the software provides two options to analyze the disk space. As you can see, I have chosen Individual Drives option to analyze my C drive space and clicked on OK button.

After analyzing the file folders of C drive the software shows the below screen.

In this screen, you can see the top left panel, where C drive is displayed in a treemap with its corresponding size & number of items contained by the folder. The respective file extension will also be displayed in next panel.
