Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook is a free-to-use application made available to every G Suite business/enterprise subscriber.

Using this application admin can easily set up Google Workspace user accounts on the Outlook Desktop client. Plus, users can also set up the app on their own.

The reason for GWSMO’s existence is that Google never made its desktop client, and many of its users are already familiar with Outlook, so instead of developing a competitor, Google made the smart choice to just make it easier to set up the account on an existing service.

With GWSMO, every Gmail email, contact, and calendar becomes accessible inside the Microsoft Outlook Desktop email client.

If you are trying to use GWSMO to switch from Google to M365, stop. There are way better ways to migrate Google Workspace to Outlook that do not involve so many unnecessary steps. Let us start by understanding a bit more about this service.

Overview of Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook

GWSMO or Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook (formerly known as G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook) is a desktop-based free utility and can be downloaded from its official site. With its help, all the email messages, contact info, calendar, events, tasks, and notes are saved in the G Suite as well as in the Outlook account. Hence, all the important data present in both email clients makes it possible to work with both accounts simultaneously.

Apart from this, if the user wants to use G Suite Gmail and quit using Outlook, but requires its data in G Suite, then go with Outlook to G Suite Migration Tool. It is the perfect software solution that let users import PST into Gmail business account in a matter of minutes.
