KMail is a desktop-based email client by Kontact and supports viewing HTML mail, filtering, folders, international character sets. This on-premise email client can handle IMAP, POP3 and local mailboxes for incoming emails. But due to its limited features, users are moving towards advanced cloud-based platforms.

Office 365 is a premium subscription service by Microsoft. It allows you to manage and store your files on the cloud and eliminates dependency on hardware for data management. Advanced security features and the enhanced email capabilities are making Office 365 the first choice of all users.

Reasons to Transfer Emails from KMail to O365 Webmail

Some of the common reasons given by the users to transfer emails from KMail to O365 webmail are:

  • KMail hangs most of the time and you need to exit the email client or restart the program which leads to bad user experience. On the other hand, Exchange Online offers an easy collaboration of data items and offers faster connectivity.
  • There are ghost emails in the folders of this desktop-based email client and the searching feature does not work efficiently. This is not an issue with MS 365 as it is continuously updated and all the bugs are routinely fixed by Microsoft.
  • This on-premise email program offers fewer features as compared to Outlook Online which offers online mailbox access, facility to schedule meetings or invitations, multiple mailbox types like Shared Mailbox, Groups, In-Archive Mailbox, Public folders, etc.
  • Office365 is the first choice at workplaces where employees need to work with multiple machines and operating systems. This is because the entire mailbox data is available on the cloud and can be accessed from any device or location. This feature is not available with traditional email platform.
  • With Outlook Online, you can manage or store bulk data which leads to better user experience.
