Import/Export New Outlook for Mac Emails

The following guide will show you the steps to import/export New Outlook for Mac database.

Import and Export option greyed out in New Outlook for Mac. So, New Outlook for Mac users are unable to archive, backup, or import PST file in it. Microsoft suggested users to switch back to the Legacy Outlook to use Import/Export feature.

But before that, please make sure that you are fulfilling the below requirements:

  • macOS version 10.14 (Mojave) and later.
  • Outlook version based on update channel:
    • 16.42 (20101102) and later for Current Channel.
    • 16.40 (20073000) and later for Current Channel (Preview).
    • 16.32 (19110306) and later for Beta Channel.

STEP 1

The Import / Export option in the New Outlook for Mac is greyed out for now and doesn't allow users to perform either import or export process.

STEP 2

Launch New Outlook for Mac and Go to the Help menu and click on "Revert to Legacy Outlook" option.

Outlook will then show you a Feedback Prompt. Click on the Submit button and the Outlook will switch to Legacy Outlook.

STEP 3

Once you have successfully switched to the Legacy Outlook, then open the File menu and select the Export option.

Steps to Export Mac Outlook Data File

Select the items (Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Task, Notes) that you want to export from Export to Archive File (.olm). After this hit Continue button.

Now Browse the path to save exported data file and hit Save. After that hit Finish button to sart the export process.

Steps to Import PST File in Mac Outlook

From Step 3 select Import and then Choose Outlook for Windows Data File (.pst) option and click on the Continue button.

Now locate the PST file on your computer and then click on the Import button.

After the completion of the import process, click on the Finish button.

You can now find the PST file data under "On My Computer" tab.
