A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Extract Email Attachments from Multiple MBOX Files On Mac

STEP 1

Launch SysTools Mac MBOX Attachment Extractor on your Mac machine and the initial screen of the software will appear to you as:

IMPORTANT: For extraction of Eudora & Pocomail MBX ATTACHMENTS, make sure that the ".mbx file" and "attach" folder are at the same location. Since Eudora and Pocomail stores attachments in separate attach folder, without it the extraction of attachments is not possible.


STEP 2

Click on the"Add Files" or "Add Folder" to add MBOX/ MBX/ MBS/ MBOX(without extension) files on the software pane.

Choose supported files to add into the software:

  1. You can choose mix of MBOX(with or without extension), MBX and MBS files.
  2. You can choose files belonging to a single format (like only .mbox files) at a time.
  3. You can choose any combination of supported formats at a time.

'Add File' - Choose the MBOX files and click on the Open button.

'Add Folder' - Choose the folder containing MBOX files and click on the Open button.

After the files are added to the software pane you can able to see the added files in software preview window.

In the case of wrong files selection you can easily remove them by clicking on the Remove or Remove All button.


STEP 3

Wait for the folder to be loaded into the software then click on the Next.

Select the Various Settings

The tool comes with four folder option:

  1. Maintain Folder Hierarchy - This option will maintain the complete on-disk folder hierarchy of the chosen MBOX files / folder.
  2. Create Folder For Attachments - This option will create separate folders for extracted attachments of each email.
  3. No Folder Hierarchy - This option will remove the on-disk hierarchy of folders when saving the attachments.
  4. Create Single Folder - This option is only available if you have selected 'No folder hierarchy'. It creates a single outer folder to store the attachments.

If you want to save attachment or attachment folder according to specific name convention, then Choose Naming Convention option.

After that click on the Advance Settings option.

STEP 5

Choose Advance Sttings Options

Choose Date Filter to extract attachments from spacific date-range

You can also choose to include/exclude MBOX files according to File Size and File Type.

STEP 6

Choose Destination Location to Extract Attachments

After selecting Advance Settings click on on the Change button to choose destination location.

Click on the Export button

Once the task is completed click on the OK button

STEP 8

Successful Attachment Extraction

After the extraction process, you will able to view the success report like Attachment Count, MBOX Count, Fail Count, and Export Status. Also, to see report files, click on the View Report button

See the Attachments

Separate 'Reports' will be created for all the processed MBOX, MBX, MBS, and MBOX (without extension) files.
