How to Backup Google One Data Locally on Desktop?

What is Google One exactly?

As you might be aware, up to 15 GB of data can be saved in any Google Account, which is distributed between different services such as Gmail, Google Drive, and Photos.

“One membership” is symbolized by Google One for: 

Space extension, expertise access and family data storage – all under a single shared strategy.

In short, Google One will make space for everything that is required.

As per Google, “Shared with Me” items, photos and videos stored in “High Quality,” are the only databases not occupying your storage. Even the media items that you are purchasing on Google Play do not take up the available space.

Backing Up Regular Google Account vs. Backup of Google One Account

Regular Google Account

Each Google Account consists of 15 GB of Storage shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. Depending on the plan one opts for, you can upgrade the total storage to 100 GB or more. You also receive added benefits such as support from Google experts, and shared storage across family members.

Regular Google Account :

  • Total Storage: 15 GB
  • Default Storage: 15 GB

Google One membership: Upgraded to 100 GB

  • Total Storage: 100 GB
  • Default Storage: 15 GB

Example 2: Family Sharing of Google One Membership

If you share your Google One storage with 4 family members:

Regular Google Account :

  • Default Storage: 15 GB
  • Storage for each Family member: 15 GB

Google One membership: Upgraded to 100 GB (with Family sharing)

  • 100 GB of total storage available for all persons
  • Total Storage: 100 GB
  • Default Storage: 15 GB
  • Google One Storage: 85 GB (shared by all 4 members )

What All Data You Can Backup From Google One Account?

Google Drive: “My Drive” holds PDFs, pictures and videos etc., but other Google Docs files, including Docs, Slides Drawing, Jamboard, Sheets, and will start taking up storage space starting 1st of June 2021. It also stores Items in a Recycle Bin.

In the case of Gmail, it counts the storage of all Messages and attachments.

 

Google Photos: It will remove these high-quality images if you surpass your storage limit or don’t log into your accounts for two years or more.

Google One Storage Does not Include:

  • G Drive: There is no additional Google One space for the following Google Drive data:
  • Shared with me’ Folder. Only the owner’s Google Drive storage will be counted for this type of storage.
  • Google Sites: It will not include Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Jamboard and Drawings Created before 1 June 2021 and don’t edit after that date.
  • Google Photos: Any Photos and videos backed up before 1 June 2021 in high quality or express quality will not be counted within Google One Storage.

  • If you have already taken a backup once & want to continue further Choose “Incremental Backup”. This backup can be done when using the same machine for first & second-time backups.

  • Use the “Apply filters” tab to apply custom filters.
  • Do provide individual filters so the selective & desired backup can be generated for the Gmail account.

  • The “Select Folders” helps to take only the backup of folders which is desired.
  • The “E-mail Filter” option enables filtering emails by starting & ending date, thereby backing up only desired emails within a certain date range.

Phase 4: Get a Backup of Google One Data on the Desktop

  • Find the required files in the destination location as chosen :
